Holy Trinity senior girls soccer team scores EOSSAA silver at 'AA' tourney

sean Jun 4, 2019 - 8:10pm

The Holy Trinity Falcons senior girls 'AA' soccer team completed the round-robin portion of last week's EOSSAA tournament with 2 wins, finishing first in their pool. The Falcons defeated Embrun and Thousand Islands, both by a score of 1-0. The goal scorers were Morgan Zappia in game one and Kelly Brissard in game two, while Madison Ruffo earned both shutouts.

HT moved on to play Arnprior in the semifinal and once again was victorious, and punched a ticket to the EOSSAA final with a 1-0 victory. Lily Bacchiochi notched the goal, while Ruffo picked up her third shutout.

The final was a rematch of game one where the Falcons faced Embrun for the EOSSAA championship. The Falcons had to settle for silver, though, as their storybook season came to an end with a 3-1 loss.

Junior Gaels boys qualify for EOSSAA soccer

sean May 26, 2019 - 2:26pm

Depsite finishing as SD&G playoff runners-up, the GDHS Gaels junior boys soccer team will compete at EOSSAA, on Wednesday in Kemptville, as the fifth seed.

Last week, the Gaels lost their league championship match to la Citadelle, which is the second seed at EOSSAA. Also competing there will be VCI, the PRSSAA champion, ranked fourth.

Glengarry's game schedule is as follows

  • 9:10 a.m. versus St. Joseph's - Renfrew
  • 11:30 a.m. against VCI

Should they finish first in their pool, they will qualify for the EOSSAA championship game, slated for a 4:10 p.m. start.

All matches will be two 30-minute halves.

SD&G champion Tagwi junior girls soccer team ranked first for EOSSAA

sean May 26, 2019 - 2:15pm

Last week in Cornwall, the junior girls soccer team from Tagwi captured the SD&G 'A' playoff championship. (Be sure to check this week's edition of The Glengarry News for the story and photos.)

Next for the Warriors is EOSSAA, where Tagwi is seeded first of six teams for the May 29 tournament, in Kemptville.

The Warriors are booked to play round-robin matches (two 30-minute halves) at 8 a.m. (versus St. Joseph's - Renfrew) and 10:20 a.m. (against St Thomas Aquinas). The girls will need to finish with the best record in their pool, as there is no semfinal round, just a championship game, scheduled for a 3 p.m. start.

Teams from la Citadelle (SDGAA runner-up) and VCI (PRSSAA champion) are also competing in this tournament.
