Major bantam Wild hockey team celebrates league championship

Video: Sauve scores in 1-1 Hawks U18 playoff tie
In HEO U18 hockey league playoff action, the Hawkesbury Hawks dispatched the Kemptville 73s in the quarter-final round, and we have the story in this week's edition of The Glengarry News.
Game one of the series saw defenceman and Alexandria native Felix Sauve score the lone goal for the Hawks, in a 1-1 tie.
County boys to square off in U18 hockey game Wednesday night
There will be Glengarry county boys on both teams tomorrow night, when the U18 Hawkesbury Hawks host OHA Gold, at 7 p.m.
For the Hawks, there are forward #16 Todd McBain and defenceman #46 Felix Sauve.
On the OHA roster are forwards #13 Riley MacDonald and #44 Innes Thompson, as well as defenceman #6 John Richer.
It's the last game of regular-season play Hawkesbury, which sits third in the Yzerman Division. OHA Gold is third in the Academy pool.
Playoffs run through the month of March.
Felix Sauve named to U18 AAA hockey all-star game
Alexandria's Felix Sauve, a defenceman with the U18 Hawkesbury Hawks, has been selected to play in the HEO league's all-star game, scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m., in Kemptville. In 33 league games thus far this season Sauve has 25 points. He's also skated in 6 matches with the CCHL2 Alexandria Glens.
The game is being held as part of a Winter Showcase for the HEO and CCHL. Here's the day's full schedule.
Junior A, midget AAA camps and pre-season hockey begin this week
Hockey fans looking to get an early look at the region's top talent might like to check out exhibition action in the junior 'A' and HEO midget 'AAA' leagues.
The Cornwall Colts of the CCHL will hold inter-squad "blue-white" games on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., at the Civic Complex. The club is also booked to play against the Hawkesbury Hawks on Monday, Aug. 27 at 3:30 p.m., in St. Isidore, and then Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m, in Hawkesbury.
The midget-level Colts have an exhibition contest with the Hawks booked for Saturday, Aug. 25, at 8 p.m., in Casselman. These games teams are also scheduled to battle on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m., in Hawkesbury.
AAA minor bantam Wild claim league championship
The Eastern Ontario Wild minor bantam AAA hockey team is the 2018 HEO league playoff championship, clinching the crown on March 24 with a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Jr. 67s.
The Wild squad of 2004 birth year players includes Summerstown's Connor MacDonald, on defence.

There was U18 'AAA' hockey in Cornwall on Saturday, and we were there shooting photos of the Cornwall Colts game. The 2017-18 edition of the team includes a slew of county boys.

Fans invited to Cornwall Colts meet-and-greet event
The Cornwall Colts invite their fans and community partners to help kick off the team's 26th CCHL season on Thursday, August 31, at Shoeless Joe’s in Cornwall (1110 Brookdale Avenue).
Players from both the junior 'A' and U18 teams will be on hand from 4 to 7 pm to talk hockey, as they prepare for the regular season, which opens on the weekend.
The CCHL Colts will open their portion of the regular season on Saturday versus the Smiths Falls Bear (4:45 pm start) at the Sensplex, as part of the annual CCHL Showcase in Ottawa. First home game at the Ed Lumley Arena is booked for Thursday, September 7 at 7:30 pm with the Brockville Braves visiting.
Once again this season, the roster of both the junior 'A' and U18 squads are expected to include a solid contingent of Glengarry county players.

Team HEO claims bronze at OHL Gold Cup
