As expected, the race was tight in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell while Conservatives cruised to another victory in Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry in the June 2 Ontario election. At last report, Conservative candidate Stéphane Sarrazin had a 1,627-vote margin over incumbent Liberal Amanda Simard in GPR. Conservative Nolan Quinn did not break a sweat in succeeding Jim McDonell in SDSG, getting 20,766 votes, compared to his nearest rival, Liberal Kirsten Gardner, who garnered 6,456. Only about 41 per cent of eligible voters in SDSG cast ballots, while about 35 per cent of the electorate in GPR went to the polls.
