Poor road conditions and inclement weather have meant the cancellation of some sports events which were scheduled for today, February 4.

As we receive notice of cancellations/postponements, this article will be updated. Here is what we have so far:

• Char-Lan Skating Club: Monday night skating ice time cancelled
• South Glengarry pickleball: cancelled for tonight at Char-Lan DHS due to school closure
• Glengarry Soccer League: Monday night soccer action at the dome is cancelled
• LSLMHL midget B house hockey: game tonight in Cornwall for Alexandria Glens and Colts is postponed

All scheduled July 2 soccer matches in the Glengarry Soccer League have been postponed.

That's the word coming down from the GSL admin today as a result of the extreme heat that has stricken our county.

Given the extreme weather conditions (heat advisory) and the risk of severe thunderstorms, the Glengarry Soccer League has decided in the interest of the safety of our members to cancel all games for Monday, July 2, 2018.

Games will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 8 at the same time and location (provided the field is available) and we will continue to monitor the weather for the remainder of the week.

Monday's postponed games include youth and tier 2 men's action.

With hot weather forecast to continue this week, it's likely that there will be additional postponements in the days ahead.

ERSL postpones action as well

The Ottawa-based ERSL, which includes youth Glengarry Hearts teams, was evaluating the status of its matches at the time of this post.

However, we do know that the U13 girls game slated to be played in Alexandria has been deferred to a later date.
