Char-Lan DHS thanks its volunteer coaches
A key component of a school's sports program is its volunteer coaches, and Char-Lan DHS recently acknowledged those individuals who donated their time through the 2016-17 season to guide the various Crusaders teams.
The year's volunteers included Jim Fourney (basketball), Rory Blackadder (pole vaulting), Graham Midgley (soccer), David Rawnsley (soccer), Mike McDonell (hockey), Bill Roundpoint (lacrosse), Ryan Dewar (lacrosse), and Kathy Millar (archery).

High school hockey updates for March 8
Today there was and is plenty going on in the world of high school hockey, including boys EOSSAA in Cornwall.
Char-Lan DHS was competing in the event as the wildcard, losing both games to be eliminated. Host St. Joseph's (the top seed) was also bounced after round-robin play with two defeats.
The girls team from Char-Lan DHS is skating in Arnprior at EOSSAA and at last report had qualified to play in the final, with round-robin results of a tie and win.
Tonight in Cornwall is the annual Bishop's Cup Catholic charity game between the Holy Trinity Falcons and the St. Joseph's Panthers.

Freezing rain postpones girls EOSSAA hockey, Char-Lan skating showcase
The freezing rain our area received last evening and overnight had an impact on scheduled sports events, including the annual Char-Lan Skating Club showcase in Williamstown. The event had been slated for last night, but was postponed to March 27 due to the weather.
Today, Char-Lan DHS' girls hockey team was supposed to be skating at EOSSAA in Arnprior, but that event too has been bumped, moved to tomorrow.

SD&G gold for Char-Lan DHS girls hockey team
Today in Cornwall, the Char-Lan DHS Crusaders girls hockey team scored a 2-1 victory over La Citadelle in the SDGAA championship game to nab the title and earn a trip to EOSSAA.
