Former Colts star returning to teach as coach

sean Jul 7, 2017 - 2:37pm

Former Colts star Brock McBride is returning to coach the Jr. 'A' hockey team for the 2017-18 CCHL season. McBride is joining the Colts as an associate coach, along with current bench boss Ian MacInnis.

"As a player, Brock understood the 200-foot game," said MacInnis. "His lengthy pro career showed him the finer points of the game, and now he can pass that knowledge on to the next generation."

McBride joins the Colts after a nine-year pro career, with stops in the American Hockey League, the East Coast Hockey League, the EIHL, and the pro loop in Austria.

McBride combined grit with a scoring touch to amass 113 goals and 191 assists, for 304 points, and 615 penalty minutes in 391 games as a pro. Prior to that, McBride spent four years playing for St. Lawrence University in the ECAC. In McBride's three-plus years with the Colts, he scored 50 goals and 81 assists, for 131 points in 166 games.
