Mill Pond to welcome Beaver Swamp Hockey Tournament, Polar Bear Dip this weekend
On Sunday, Feb. 18, Alexandria's Mill Pond will host a pair of events: the Beaver Swamp Hockey Tournament (which supports raises funds to help local youngsters participate in minor hockey) and the Polar Bear Dip (which supports the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame).
This week's edition of The Glengarry News features details on the dip, including a list of registered participants to date. Start time is set for 2 p.m. sharp.
For the Beaver Swamp tourney, this location is a new one this year. Games are scheduled to run throughout the day, beginning at 8 a.m., with play taking place on a pair of "rinks." Championship games will likely hit the ice by mid to late afternoon.
Organizer Richard Bellefeuille tells The News that the ice is looking good and he's hoping that Mother Nature will co-operate on Sunday.
