The freezing rain our area received last evening and overnight had an impact on scheduled sports events, including the annual Char-Lan Skating Club showcase in Williamstown. The event had been slated for last night, but was postponed to March 27 due to the weather.
Today, Char-Lan DHS' girls hockey team was supposed to be skating at EOSSAA in Arnprior, but that event too has been bumped, moved to tomorrow.

Char-Lan District High School's senior girls basketball team, as we reported in this week's edition of The Glengarry News, is the SD&G champion and has qualified to represent the league at EOSSAA.
That regional tournament is happening today (Nov. 17) and tomorrow in Renfrew, and the Crusaders find themselves seeded fifth, perhaps a bit surprising given their unbeaten record against league opponents.
Round-robin games today are booked for 2:30 and 5:30pm starts, versus Carleton Place DHS (the second seed) and Renfrew CI (the fourth seed) respectively.
Playoffs, should Char-Lan qualify, are set for Friday.
You can follow updates on our website and here on the event website. The News will have a full report in our issue next week.
Char-Lan's girls hockey team is competing at OFSAA in Kenora (in far northwestern Ontario). The Crusaders triumphed in their opening match today, 2-1 over the host St. Thomas Aquinas H.S. team.
Char-Lan is the second seed at the tournament, entering OFSAA as both the SD&G and EOSSAA champion.
The girls will play twice on Tuesday to complete round-robin play. Be sure to check www.glengarry247.com for updates.
