The senior boys soccer team at St. Joseph’s CSS once again claimed the SD&G championship in the 'AA' division, defeating the Holy Trinity Falcons, 5-2, on Wednesday.
The Panthers finished the season 7-1-2 good for second place overall in the league (second to the unbeaten Glengarry Gaels who won the 'A' title in separate playoffs) and were favoured to win the game.
HT capitalized on a couple of SJ turnovers to twice take leads. The Panthers applied great pressure all game and finally got a break on a penalty kick, awarded for a handball in the box. Braedan Levac buried it to tie the game, one of his three tallies of the match.
At that point, the St. Joseph's onslaught saw the offence take charge, scoring three more.
Other Panthers scoring in the game were Cole Lavigne and Hayden Charbonneau.
The Panthers travel to Kingston next Tuesday and Wednesday, for EOSSAA at Queen’s University.
