Fatal collision on Highway 138

An Embrun man was killed in a collision on Highway 138 Wednesday afternoon after the car he was driving collided with a truck. Armand Benoit, 88, was pronounced dead after being transported to hospital. A passenger in the vehicle Mr. Benoit was driving suffered minor injuries. The collision occurred April 27, just before 3:15 p.m., on the 138 north of Gravel Hill Road in North Stormont Township. Initial investigation indicates that a northbound passenger vehicle and a southbound transport truck collided in the southbound lane, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment. The driver of the transport truck did not sustain any injuries.

Body located in house fire

A body has been found inside a house on Concession 4 in South Glengarry following a fire that broke out at 11 p.m. February 22.

The identification of the deceased will not be released at this time pending post mortem.

The SD&G OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FIS) are assisting with the investigation, in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO).

 

One person missing following fire

One person remains unaccounted for following a house fire February 22 on Concession Road 4 in South Glengarry.

The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is assisting with the investigation of the fire that began shortly after 11 p.m.

The SD&G OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FIS) is assisting with the investigation, in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM).
