Due to the weather and wet conditions in the Summerstown Forest, Saturday's scheduled trail clean-up even has been delayed until Sept. 24. Volunteers will be working through the trails on that day to clear brush and prepare the environment for the coming winter and snowshowing and cross-country skiing.
Don't blame the roads.
That is the message from the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment, which responded to 26 accidents Wednesday and Thursday.
The prime culprit, according to the OPP, is poor driving, not poor road conditions.

Minor soccer indoor matches scheduled for tonight, Jan, 22, at the dome in Alexandria have been postponed due to the forecast of freezing rain. The Glengarry Soccer League will reschedule the games in the near future.
This postponement affects games at the U6 co-ed, U9 girls, and U13 boys levels.
Updated at 4 p.m.: Adult mixed soccer scheduled at 8:30 p.m. has also been postponed.
A 23-year-old Ottawa man died Saturday when the vehicle he was driving rolled over on the eastbound Highway 417 near Dunvegan.
Matthias Foks was pronounced deceased at the hospital after the vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, coming to rest in the centre median, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment.

The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) are getting ready to officially mark the start of the 2018 season. Starting at 10 a.m. on January 7, the group will host a day of family-friendly activities.
There will be free ski and snowshoe rentals, volunteers serving as guides on the trails, and hot chocolate by the fire to warm you up. Learn about events and lessons taking place this winter, and meet other trail users and members of FOTST. It's time to get excited about winter!
New this year at the trails is a bigger, relocated parking lot, adjacent to Summerstown Road.
The Summerstown Trails offer 18 km of groomed cross-country skiing trails for both classic and skate-skiing, and a separate network of 11 km of snowshoe trails. The facility is situated on Summerstown Road, 1.6 km north of exit 804 of the 401, and are open seven days a week. There is no charge to access the trails.
