Royals baseball team stands 4-0 at provincials

Competing in the senior Little League provincial tournament in Cornwall, the hometown Royals stand 4-0 following round-robin play, to advance to the championship game set for Monday, July 9 at 4 p.m., at Legion Park.

Their opponent has yet to be determined, as the East Nepean Eagles and Orleans Red Sox will battle today to decide who gets the berth. That game is also slated for a 4 p.m. start.

The winner of the tourney advances to represent Ontario at the national senior Little League tournament.

Provincial Little League Baseball is coming to Cornwall July 3

The Seaway City will be hosting the provincial Little League baseball tournament, senior division for kids ages 15 and 16, starting July 3.

In addition to the local entrant, the event, at Legion Field in Cornwall, will feature four teams from out-of-town. The tourney is being put on by Cornwall District Minor Baseball.

The local team (Cornwall Black Sox) has round-robin games scheduled for July 4 at 5 p.m., July 5 at 1 p.m., July 6 at 1 p.m., and July 7 at 5 p.m. Playoffs are scheduled for July 8 and 9.
