A New Brunswick man faces several charges after a driver suffered serious injuries in a March 27 collision caused by a vehicle driving the wrong way on Highway 401 between Lancaster and Cornwall. An Ontario Provincial Police officer suffered minor injuries when he stopped Cary Carrière, 47, of Grand Falls, who was charged with flight causing bodily harm, assaulting and obstructing a police officer, dangerous operation of a vehicle, impersonation, leaving the scene of an accident and breach of probation conditions, reports the Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment. The crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. on the eastbound 401 between McConnell Road and Boundary Road when a commercial rental vehicle travelling westbound entered the eastbound lane, colliding with a passenger vehicle.

The man driving the eastbound passenger vehicle, the sole occupant, was taken to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
