Junior A Colts split week four CCHL hockey action

Last Thursday night on home ice, the Cornwall Colts nabbed their second-straight victory, beating Navan 6-4.

The Colts scored three times in the first three minutes of the first period, en route to the win. Josh Barnes scored into an empty net with less than a minute to play to seal the victory. Barnes had two goals on the night. Konnor MacCormick and Justin McRae each had a goal and an assist. Tristan Poissant and Jeremy Quesnel also scored. Jacob Shankar chipped in with two assists.

The Grads outshot the Colts 36-31. Michael Carr stopped 22 of 23 shots in relief of starter Rico DiMatteo to earn the victory in goal.

Hardest Working Player honours went to Ethan Mulhearn. Three stars were first Konnor MacCormick (COR), second Justin McRae (COR), and third Jackson Arcan (NAV).

The next night, on the road in Brockville, the Colts were humbled 4-1. Jack Collins had the lone Cornwall tally, set up by Poissant and Tommy Tanner.

Junior 'A' Colts fall in overtime

Liam Lascelle made 45 saves, but it wasn’t enough as the Carleton Place Canadians beat the Colts 4-3 in overtime at the Cornwall Civic Complex on Thursday night. Lascelle earned first star and Hardest Working Player honours, as the Canadians outshot the Colts 49-14.

Cameron Hebert (with his fourth of the season) and Alexandria's Jeremy Quesnel (with his first career CCHL marker) each had a goal and an assist for the Colts. Alec Vent also scored his first CCHL goal.

The Colts' record stands at 5-5-1-0 (11 points).

Second star was Tim Theocharidis (CP),  and third star Travis Broughman (CP).

The Colts finished 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Canadians were 2-for-7 with the man advantage.

Cornwall's next game is in Navan versus the Grads on Sunday. Game time is 2 pm at the Navan Arena.

The Colts return home next Thursday (Oct, 5) to face off against the Nepean Raiders. Game time is 7:30 pm at the Ed Lumley Arena.

OHL Gold Cup update, game three tonight for Quesnel and Team HEO

Team HEO enters tonight's third round-robin game at the OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener with a 1-1 record. The boys fell 7-4 to Team GTHL Blue on Thursday and beat Team HNO 8-1 this afternoon.

Game time for the third match is 8:15pm, versus Team OMHA White. Playoff action continues through the weekend.

Alexandria's Jeremy Quesnel is the lone Glengarrian on the squad.
