Accidents can happen anywhere, including schools. The Upper Canada District School Board saw the number of accidents within the system rise to 129 from 118 during the last school year. Most were caused by slips, trips or falls. There was 7.4 per cent increase in “struck by/against” accidents – such as a staff member being struck by a sports ball – and a 13 per cent increase in ergonomics-related injuries and strains.
