Rugby returns to Glengarry Highland Games this weekend
Rugby 7s will be held as part of the Glengarry Highland Games this weekend, billed as the Nate MacRae Memorial Invitational.
Preliminary matches are scheduled for Friday, from 2 to 6pm, on the field behind the Clan Building. The idea is the have three games played per hour. Finals will take place Saturday afternoon, on the infield, in front of the grandstand.
Nate MacRae was an enthusiastic young man, who lost his battle with cancer. He was a sportsman, loving the competition and companionship generated through sports. He loved his Celtic heritage and was lovingly called, “The Scotsman” by his teammates and friends.
Rugby at the Games will certainly provide exciting play in this historical Scottish game.
The competition is being organized by Alex de Wit.
