Summerstown Trails official opening set for Sunday

sean Jan 5, 2018 - 12:51pm

The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) are getting ready to officially mark the start of the 2018 season. Starting at 10 a.m. on January 7, the group will host a day of family-friendly activities.

There will be free ski and snowshoe rentals, volunteers serving as guides on the trails, and hot chocolate by the fire to warm you up. Learn about events and lessons taking place this winter, and meet other trail users and members of FOTST. It's time to get excited about winter!

New this year at the trails is a bigger, relocated parking lot, adjacent to Summerstown Road.

The Summerstown Trails offer 18 km of groomed cross-country skiing trails for both classic and skate-skiing, and a separate network of 11 km of snowshoe trails. The facility is situated on Summerstown Road, 1.6 km north of exit 804 of the 401, and are open seven days a week. There is no charge to access the trails.
