Le Relais intermediate students compete at Ottawa track and field meet

Our June 5 edition includes a story about Grade 7-8 track and field athletes from le Relais. Here's some additional content, from the school's Facebook page.

Bravo à tous les jeunes qui ont participé à la compétition d’athlétisme de mardi 28 mai au Centre Terry Fox d’Ottawa! Malgré une journée pluvieuse et froide, les jeunes ont su se dépasser et démontrer beaucoup de caractère!

Félicitations à Mathieu Sauvé qui a été l’athlète par excellence des garçons 8e année!

EOSSAA soccer championships for GDHS, le Relais

Both high schools in Alexandria captured EOSSAA 'A' soccer titles today in Kingston. Glengarry DHS' senior boys won, as did le Relais' senior girls. 

Unfortunately, the events concluded after The News had gone to press this week. Brief stories are posted to Sports in the Glens, and we will have full coverage in the newspaper next week.

Le Relais senior girls soccer team scores EOSSAA 'A' championship

Today in Kingston, the senior girls soccer team from le Relais nabbed the championship of the 'A' division soccer tournament. Unfortunately, the results came in after The News had gone to press, but we will have coverage in the newspaper next week. Congrats les Rapides! Next stop: OFSAA.

GDHS senior boys, Le Relais senior girls soccer teams seeded first for EOSSAA

Senior 'A' EOSSAA soccer will take place May 27 and May 28, with teams from the county seeded on top.

For the boys, the SD&G champion Glengarry Gaels, who capped off a perfect league season last week by claiming the SDGAA playoff title, are ranked first in a six-team field for the regional tournament.

Day one matches are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. (versus Notre Dame) and 12:30 p.m. (against St. Michael). The top two squads from pool play will advance to day two semifinal action, set for 10:30 a.m. The championship game is booked for a 2 p.m. start.

On the girls side, le Relais claimed the PRSSAA championship last fall and has been eager to hit the field to compete at EOSSAA. Les Rapides are ranked first. The SDGAA entrant is la Citadelle.

Le Relais day one action is slated for 8 a.m. (versus Ernestown) and 11:00 a.m. (against Rideau). Semifinals on the second day are set for 9 a.m., with the girls championship game booked for a 12:30 p.m. start.

EOSSAA is being hosted by St. Michael Catholic High School, with the games to be played at South Gower Park (669 South Gower Dr., Kemptville). The game format will be two 40-minute halves.

Finalists amongst the boys and girls (EOSSAA winners and runners-up) will qualify for OFSAA.

Le Relais intermediate hockey team will play for a Franco medal on Friday

Les Rapides completed round-robin play of the Grade 7/8 Franco hockey tournament in Ottawa with an unbeaten record, as le Relais had 3 wins and 1 tie.

The boys, playing in the 'AA' division, placed second of 12 teams, earning a bye to Friday's semifinal, set for an 11 a.m. start. If they win, they'll advance to the gold-medal game at 3 p.m., but if they lose, les Rapides will instead play for bronze at 2 p.m.

Le Relais boys hockey team takes silver at Franco tournament

A week after winning the pre-Franco hockey tournament in Casselman, the boys from le Relais scored silver at the Tournoi Franco-Ontarien, where they ran the table unbeaten before colliding with a formidable foe in the final.
