Canadiens vs Glens alumni hockey game on Oct. 27

Alumni of the Montreal Canadiens will be skating against Alexandria Glens alumni in hockey action on Oct. 27, at the Glengarry Sports Palace, in Alexandria.

The tentative rosters have been announced and can be viewed in this post on Sports in the Glens.

The evening is a fundraiser for the foundation of the Glengarry Memorial Hospital.

In support of the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation, the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria will host a hockey game on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., featuring alumni of the Montreal Canadiens versus an Alexandria Glens alumni team.

Canadiens alumni to skate at Palace vs Glens alumni on Oct. 27

On Saturday, Oct. 27, alumni of the Montreal Canadiens will skate at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria against a team of Glens alumni. The action is set for a 7 p.m. start.

The event is a fundraiser for the Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation. Tickets are available by contacting the foundation or North Glengarry Recreation.

Great night for county's junior hockey teams

Both of the county's CCHL2 hockey teams prevailed tonight.

For the Char-Lan Rebels, the win came on home ice, a 1-0 decision over the Ottawa West Golden Knights.

The Alexandria Glens triumphed on the road, beating the Whitewater Kings 7-4.

Both teams have rare Sunday action on tap for Oct. 21. At 3:30 p.m., the Rebels will host the Kings, and starting at 4 p.m., the Glens will entertain the Westport Rideaus.

Le Relais hosts girls PRSSAA soccer today

Prescott-Russell high school league girls soccer is taking place today in Alexandria, with games at le Relais and Island Park.

Next action for the senior les Rapides squad is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the school, where le Relais will square off against a team from Russell.

The junior girls' opening match is currently underway at the park, with their second action set for 12:45 p.m. versus VCI.

Missing woman's body found

The body of a 26-year-old South Glengarry woman who was reported missing October 11 was found today (October 13).

The case is now being treated as a homicide.

The body of Emilie Maheu, who was last seen leaving work October 11 at 1 p.m. in Alexandria, was found in South Glengarry at 11:30 a.m. A post-mortem examination will be conducted later this week at Ottawa General Hospital. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Detective Constable Lise Durocher at 1-888-310-1122 or if you wish to remain anonymous you may call the Seaway Valley Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Junior B Glens continue road trip

In game two of their five-game road trip, the Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2 on Tuesday suffered a 10-2 loss to the unbeaten Ottawa, Jr. Canadians. 

Next home action is set for Oct. 21.

In between, the Glens have games in Richmond, Casselman, and Cobden (Whitewater).

High school junior football in Alexandria on Wednesday

The second tournament of the season for high school junior football will take place Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Glengarry DHS, where the host Gaels will entertain Gananoque and St. Joseph's (Cornwall), beginning at noon.
